I love the artwork of Maxfield Parrish and would love to get a tattoo similar to any of his work. My question is, is there any way to capture the light in his paintings onto the skin? Or would it just look like a two dimensional Art Deco type piece? Just curious about your thoughts?

2022.01.19 07:37 systemdapologist Rolling Gnome
I'm looking for a rolling release distribution that uses GNOME as its flagship desktop. Not simply an rolling-based distro with Gnome flavors for example, but one that caters and Gnome primarily.
I am aware that I am the only person ever to prefer Gnome but I just love it. I currently use base Arch with a light GNOME environment (only the gnome essentials ie shell keyring nautilus terminal control center) and it works brilliantly, but I'm beginning to wonder if there's another distro out there that properly curates GNOME for me. I like the way GNOME runs on my Arch system- only around 800 packages system-wide, cold boots to about 600mb, super snappy and defaults to Wayland.
I want "rolling" for purposes so I can just do a weekly update and not have to consider point version upgrades in the future. I'm not necessarily in it for the bleeding edge software, but I do game very frequently.
What I've tried beyond Arch:
Fedora for a long time, considering my love for Gnome and its reputation for having a close relationship with Gnome. I have tried using it, but I just don't like it compared to Arch. DNF/RPM is slow, it uses literally over twice the RAM as my Arch install, the boot time is slow, it comes littered with thousands of packages, but worst of all...6 months goes by in a blink. Simply not for me.
-I actually love
Ubuntu's defaults and what they do to Gnome, as well as the secure feeling of knowing I'm using arguably the most popular Linux distro. I have tried treating it as a rolling release by upgrading to the newest (nonLTS) version as soon as it became stable, and did not have a good experience. If only nonLTS Ubuntu was a proper rolling release..
I pretty much ruled out point releases entirely after Fedora and Ubuntu, didn't even bother with
Solus is the only other system I can think to come so lean out the box compared to my Arch install in terms of package count and ram usage, but they have become quite anti-Gnome as of late...Budgie's very nice too, possibly the only DE to come close to Gnome's quality in my experience, but its creator just retired for another distro..so there's that.
Tumbleweed with Gnome, both the full desktop set and attempting to minimize the package count on Yast during installation by clicking "software" and selecting the same ones I had one Arch, but it always leads me to a bloated desktop. Boots even slower than Fedora and uses almost just as much as RAM. Yast is a tedious headache to navigate. Basically I ruled out SUSE because it doesn't flagship Gnome, and Arch with Gnome works much better for me.
-I spent some time on
Void, and while I have nothing but praises to sing for this wonderful distro, it is not the best choice for Gnome, which is becoming increasingly reliant on systemD. So yeah I guess you could say Gnome is the opposite of flagship for this distro...
I have no interest in
Gentoo or Slackware.
I'm just hearing of RebornOS, which appears to match my criteria and is even similar out of the box to how I set my Arch up, but the distro seems quite small and unknown. What is even the purpose/goal of this distro? It isn't clear who it's targeting towards.
Is Arch just my home forever, until someone out there (me) makes a lean & clean rolling distro that curates Gnome desktop?
